About Hawkstone Hall
Hawkstone Hall is one of the country’s most desirable 18th century mansions with 37 bedrooms and enviable views of the Shropshire countryside.
This magnificent 43,400 sq ft manor house and country estate is understood to date from the 1700.
Since its purchase by the Distinctly Hospitable Group in 2017 the house has undergone major refurbishment program which will see the Hall transformed into a luxury wedding & events venue.
During the redevelopment and refurbishment of the building IFC were enlisted to assist in retaining as much of the building’s original fabric whilst meeting regulatory compliance concerning life safety.
We provided the client with a detailed assessment of the current and prospective conditions of the building, identifying areas of issue that would need to be resolved to meet building standards.
Taking into consideration the age of the building, historic changes and intended future use of the structure, we adopted a thorough holistic approach. This enabled compliance through the creative use of fire compartmentation, avoiding the overprovision of systems and ensuring minimal invasiveness at all times.
We produced a detailed review highlighting the issues presented with a building of historic significance and its intended use as a busy hotel.
Targeting effective and compliant alarm and detection systems and ensuring the integrity of compartments were among the key areas of discussion. Hawkstone Hall reopened for business in April 2019 and is proving to be a huge success.
