Fire Door Safety Week: 23 to 29 September 2019

At IFC we strive to continually contribute to a safer built environment through improving the awareness, innovation and practical application of all aspects of fire safety. We are therefore very pleased to once again pledge our support to the Fire Door Safety Week campaign.

Now in its seventh year, Fire Door Safety Week will comprise a host of events across the country that aims to highlight good fire safety practice and the essential role that fire doors play in this. It’s aim is to ensure  widespread understanding as to the importance of correct specification, supply, installation, operation, inspection and maintenance of fire doors.

Fire Door Safety Week is backed by the Home Office’s National Fire Safety campaign, the National Fire Chief’s Council and London Fire Brigade, as well as other public, trade and private enterprises.

The campaign aims to build on the success of 2018’s Fire Door Safety Week message ‘Shut the door on fire and smoke’, which reportedly reached over 35 million people through various PR, social media and engagement events.

This year’s focus is being placed upon ‘protecting us when we’re asleep’, particularly in specialised housing such as care homes, children’s homes and sheltered housing as well as houses in multiple occupation and communal properties.

In support of the campaign IFC will be running a training course during Fire Door Safety Week entitled ‘Fire Rated Timber Door Sets’ and will continue to run these at various times throughout the next 12 months.
