King's College, London (KCL)

IFC carried out a range of fire safety services for the Kings College estate over the past 10 years. This included, fire safety Masterplanning, fire safety audits, fire risk assessments, high level strategic advice and negotiations with approving authorities, decant strategies and temporary fire safety provisions on complex city centre sites where operational continuity was required.  The work has included many buildings including design advice and fire engineering support for new build and refurbishment projects, as well as for new extensions to existing buildings.  As part of the refurbishment programme IFC have helped with the specification, tendering, supervision and project management of cost effective, value engineered fire upgrading works packages.  IFC involvement in snagging and commissioning tests for active and passive fire safety measures, prior to the release of contractors retentions, has provided continuity and helped to achieve a higher standard of fire and life safety.

University of Cyprus

IFC's local Director, Dr Spyros Spyrou lead the team that provided fire strategy solutions for an innovative new library project for the University of Cyprus. This included a detailed fire safety strategy based on CFD smoke modelling and evacuation analysis from the various parts of the building. 

 Brooklands College, Weybridge

Brooklands College, Weybridge

As part of a major redevelopment project for Brooklands College, IFC provided fire engineering support for a range of new buildings and refurbishment to existing Listed buildings throughout the estate.  Solutions and design options were derived by IFC engineers and involved consideration and balancing of active and passive options to meet regulatory requirements and guidance as well as client budgets and operational considerations.  Value engineered solutions were established and a holistic fire safety strategy was formulated for delivery.

 Haringey 6th Form Building

Haringey 6th Form Centre

The Haringey 6th Form Centre was built under the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme and was opened in 2007. The architect on the project was Hazle McCormack Young and the contractor was Wilmott Dixon.  IFC were involved from concept through to completion and operational implementation.  Continuity of advice was provided from fire safety strategy agreement through construction and design development including establishment of fire safety procedures and processes which were documented in fire safety manuals and training.

The project was carried out in two phases. The first phase was the construction of a new building which was followed by a complete refurbishment of the existing building. IFC provided fire safety strategy advice throughout the design and construction of the entire project.
